Knauf Insulation
Knauf Insulation in Africa
  • Knauf Insulation first entered the African markets in 2017.
  • Since then, demand for its high-performance, non-combustible insulation solutions has been increasing steadily, thanks to a greater focus on the energy efficiency of buildings and changing regulations in certain markets.
  • Today, Knauf Insulation serves customers in several countries in Africa, including South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana and Mauritius.
  • The company has developed and tailored its tried-and-tested products in response to the specific needs of local customers. For example, in South Africa, it has recently introduced:
    • Ceiling Roll (Multi Pack) – an affordable two-in-one mineral wool insulation roll that can be easily installed as either 50mm or 100mm thick. Ceiling Roll (Multi Pack) is non-combustible, and so is designed for applications where flammable polyester (PET) insulation may have previously been considered.
    • Ceiling Roll (Combi-cut) – Knauf Insulation’s market-leading ceiling roll product, supplied with an additional perforation cut at 800mm/400mm as well as the one at 600mm. This offers convenience for installers who don’t need to measure or cut to achieve the required widths for their project to suit standard joist centres, making for a faster installation.
  • Products are supplied to distributors, who supply them to professional installers working on both small- and large-scale projects; and through retailers, who sell them directly to installers or members of the public.
  • Knauf Insulation also manufactures specialist products for use in technical insulation applications, such as petrochemical plants, plant and processing or offshore rigs.
  • Knauf Insulation has recently increased its footprint in South Africa, and the business will continue to invest in its capabilities in individual countries as demand grows.
